2D1N Bt Gambang Resort City & Lake Chini Driveaway
1-2 May 2010 (Saturday – Sunday)

1. Accommodation at Bukit Gambang Resort:

Note:
Family Suite has 2 bedrooms, each with its own attached toilet. Studio Suite comes with a single bedroom.

2. Highlights

- Water Theme Park, where you can enjoy aquatic fun and games such as slides, float rides, etc.
- Boat cruise on Lake Chini
- See the legendary giant Snake Hole on a river bank
- Visit an aboriginal settlement, where tribal hunting tools such as blow pipes and traditional
herbal medicine such as Tongkat Ali are sold
- Witness lotus flowers in full bloom at Lake Chini
- Shopping for dried seafood products and snacks
- Dinner at Kuantan’s best seafood restaurant
- Shopping at one of Kuantan’s biggest and longest established malls

3. Itinerary:

DAY 1: May 1 (Saturday)

Meal: Lunch & Dinner

We meet at 6.00 am on the Malaysian side of the 2nd Link at the Esso petrol stations. The convoy will move off by 6.15 am. We will stop at the Machap R&R for breakfast, after which we’ll continue our journey. The route will be mainly on trunk roads.

We’ll stop at Kg Salong for home-cooked buffet lunch. After lunch, we’ll drive a few kilometres to the jetty point where we’ll get onboard boats for the Lake Chini cruise.

The cruise will take around 3 hours during which you will see some fascinating sights such as the legendary giant Snake Hole, jungle flora, lotus flowers and an aboriginal village. The local Orang Asli tribe earn their living off the lake. They also make hunting tools such as blowpipes for sale to visitors and sell packets of the aphrodisiac Tongkat Ali root.

After the Lake Chini cruise, we’ll continue our journey to the Bt Gambang Resort.

We’ll gather in the evening for the trip to Kuantan town where we’ll have scrumptious seafood dinner. After dinner, we will all proceed to the Berjaya Mega Mall for shopping.

DAY 2: May 2 (Sunday)

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, we will gather at the hotel lobby at 9.30 am and make our way to the Water Theme Park located next door to the resort. This theme park is the latest in Malaysia and offers lots of rides and aquatic games. There are also food & beverage outlets within the park.

We will leave the Water Theme Park by 2 pm and proceed back to the resort. We’ll check-out and gather at the lobby at 3 pm. (I will arrange for late check-out with the resort.). On our way back, we’ll make a slight detour to a big wholesaler of dried seafood products, snacks and foodstuff.

We will have dinner enroute to the 2nd Link. We should reach Tuas by around 9.00 pm.

4. Pricing (covers accommodation, specified meals and one-time entry to the Water Theme Park):

i. FAMILY SUITE – comes with 2 bedrooms.
4 adults sharing 1 Family Suite: S$148/- per adult
5 adults sharing 1 Family Suite: S$138/- per adult
6 adults sharing 1 Family Suite: S$128/- per adult

Child (3 yrs – 12 yrs): S$108/- with extra mattress
(Yes, mattress. Strangely, the resort has no extra bed. Just mattress.)

Child (3 yrs -12 yrs): $98/- without extra mattress.

Note:
If you have, for example, 3 adults and 1 child (total 4 pax) and you want a Family Suite, the price will be counted as 4 adults x $148 = S$592.

Similarly, if you have 2 adults and 3 children (total 5 pax) and you want a Family Suite, the price is still counted as 4 adults + 1 child, i.e. 4 x $148 + child $98 = S$690.

ii. STUDIO SUITE – comes with 1 bedroom.
Twin-sharing (2 adults sharing 1 Studio Suite): S$148/- per adult
Triple-sharing (3 adults sharing 1 Studio Suite): S$138 per adult

Child (3 yrs – 12 yrs): S$108/- with extra mattress
Child (3 yrs -12 yrs): $98/- without extra mattress.

6. Safety in a convoy
We’ll be driving in a convoy at all times so there are no worries about getting lost along the way.

7. Use of walkie-talkies
Every car will be issued with a walkie-talkie. I trust you will take good care of the walkie-talkie and return it to me in its original working condition at the end of the driveaway.
